I'm supposed to put a picture here of myself. So, here is my nephew Nathan and I during Christmas 2005. And yes, as you can tell, I was a little scared holding him this first time. Nathan might be more scared though!

Merseyside and the Midlands : These are pictures from my last week in England. A few shots of London then my trip to the Chester Court Hotel in Chester, outside of Liverpool. I then attended the Matthew Street Festival in Liverpool for two days. I also saw Amsterdam, a favorite band of mine from Liverpool, perform at a small club in Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port near Chester. I ended up at a conference in Birmingham, and took some pictures of the U. of Birmingham.

Daytrip to York : Well, I'm spent with cathedrals for a few years! I'm not even "religious," but I do find them amazing. York Minster is larger than Canterbury and quite breathtaking in scope inside, but I think Canterbury is prettier taken as a whole (grounds, setting, etc.). You can decide though! Despite a forecast for rain all day, the sun was out for several hours. While not pictured, I also smelled vikings at the Jorvic Viking Center (should be called the Experience Viking Project). As the British woman next to me said, "smells like pigs."

Daytrip to Canterbury, then Dover, returning to Canterbury! : With my "new" new digital camera in hand, and my work in the back of my mind, I finally left London for some official sightseeing. I decided to do two traditional daytrips from London in one day, since I only planned to visit the bigger sites in Dover and Canterbury. It was exhausting, especially getting up and down from Dover Castle, but one of the best days of traveling I've ever had. Dover isn't often on the list of top things to see for a limited England trip--it should be (although maybe everything else is even better), especially in the summer. It had history, the sea, a castle, and more history.
